Youngstown CityScape welcomes your support of our 15th annual “Grass Roots Gala” event on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at the Tyler History Center in the heart of downtown Youngstown. Social hour begins at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 6:30 p.m.

This year, we are excited and honored to present the David and Pat “Sweet Grass Roots Award” to H. William Lawson and The Mahoning Valley Historical Society (MVHS).

MVHS, and its Executive Director Bill Lawson, have been important project partners with CityScape over the last 28 years. MVHS shares our goals of honoring the past while inspiring and trailblazing the future of the city and the region. The Tyler Mahoning Valley History Center, a $4 Million investment in Youngstown’s central city, provides a community resource focused on the history of the region, and with their recent purchase of the IBM building – Youngstown CityScape’s headquarters – MVHS’s buildings bookend Federal Street, our city’s prime downtown thoroughfare. Together with the Arms Museum, MVHS solidly anchors our downtown’s cultural and commercial districts. What better time to honor an organization that is marking its 150th year of celebrating the history of the Mahoning Valley in 2025!

CityScape continues to work with partners to revitalize, rebuild, and re-imagine downtown Youngstown. We look forward to celebrating MVHS and Bill Lawson, and are grateful for their continued involvement with CityScape.
