ADA-Inclusive Accessibility Zone
The ADA-Inclusive Accessibility Zone at Light Up Night is a welcoming, accessible space designed to help individuals of all ages and abilities comfortably experience the holiday festivities.
The zone provides a quieter, more accommodating environment for individuals with disabilities, sensory sensitivities, mobility needs, and other access considerations. Guests will be able to enjoy the celebration while having access to supports designed to reduce common barriers associated with large, crowded community events.
Accessibility Zone provisions include:
- Accessible seating areas for individuals who require or benefit from a designated space
- Streaming ASL interpretation from the main stage, allowing Deaf and hard-of-hearing guests to follow performances and programming
- Designated accessible pickup and drop-off access located in close proximity to the Accessibility Zone
- Designated parking for pre-registered guests, available within close proximity to the Accessibility Zone on a first-come, first-served basis until capacity is reached
- Quiet and low-stimulation areas for guests who need a break from crowds, lights, or noise
- Sensory supports, including noise-reducing headphones, earplugs, fidgets, and sensory activity items
- Accessible pathways and entry points to help guests navigate the area
- Assistance with accessibility needs from trained event personnel
- Information and support regarding accessible event features and accommodations
- A welcoming environment for service animals and their handlers
- A designated, connected, and sheltered outdoor parade viewing area for participants
Pre-registration is required. Due to limited capacity and the specialized nature of the Accessibility Zone, guests must register in advance to reserve a space. Pre-registration also allows us to plan appropriately for parking, seating, sensory supports, and other accommodations.
Designated accessible parking will be available to pre-registered guests only and will be available until capacity is reached. Parking spaces are limited, so registration does not guarantee parking if the designated area has reached capacity upon arrival. Designated pickup and drop-off access will also be available to help guests who require closer access to the event area.
We recognize that we cannot provide every accessibility service or accommodation at this time. This Accessibility Zone is an important step in our ongoing commitment to learning, listening, and improving. We will continue to grow these offerings through feedback and guidance from participants, area disability organizations, accessibility professionals, community partners, and others with lived experience. Our goal is to build an increasingly inclusive Light Up Night that reflects the needs of the community and welcomes everyone to participate.
We, at Youngstown CityScape, are grateful to our partners, JAC Management, the City of Youngstown, and area organizations and community partners, whose collaboration and support are helping make this initiative possible. Creating a truly inclusive community celebration is a shared effort, and we are thankful to everyone contributing their time, knowledge, resources, and support.
The Accessibility Zone is part of our commitment to making Light Up Night an inclusive community celebration where individuals and families of all abilities can participate, connect, and enjoy the holiday season together.

Interested in participating in the ADA-Inclusive Accessibility Zone? Complete the registration form to be considered. Space is limited, and participating organizations will be thoughtfully selected based on available capacity and community needs.
Organization Registration & Request for Consideration
We will be curating a small number of organizations and community partners to participate in the Accessibility Zone. Organizations that register are not guaranteed placement. Participation will be based on available space, the organization’s mission and services, relevance to accessibility and inclusion, and the overall balance of resources represented within the zone.
We are especially interested in organizations that provide or connect individuals and families with:
- Disability services and advocacy
- Resources for individuals with physical, sensory, developmental, intellectual, or other disabilities
- Family and caregiver support
- Mental health, wellness, and community resources
- Assistive technology or accessibility resources
- Inclusive recreation, arts, and community programming
- Educational or employment resources
- Other services that support greater accessibility, inclusion, independence, and community participation
Pre-registration is required for organizations wishing to be considered. Due to the limited number of spaces available, selected organizations will receive additional information regarding participation, setup, accessibility expectations, and event logistics.
This initiative is intended to be a learning opportunity and a starting point for continued growth. We recognize that we cannot offer every accessibility service or resource at this time. Our goal is to continue listening, learning, and improving through feedback from participants, families, area organizations, accessibility professionals, and the broader community.
Thank you for your interest in helping us make Light Up Night a more inclusive experience for everyone.
